Defamation
Libel and slander are two kinds of defamation which can occur in the workplace. Generally, libel is a false statement in written or graphic form that injures a person's reputation and exposes that person to ridicule or financial injury, or tends to make others question or doubt a person's honesty or integrity. Slander is a similar statement that is spoken, rather than written. An employee can sue his employer, or a fellow employee, who participates in various forms of discrimination or makes defamatory statements about the employee to a third party, causing the employee harm.
Tortious Interference With Employment Contract or Prospective Employment Contract
Tortious interference cases arise when an employee's contract for employment is terminated, or is prevented from coming into existence, because of interference by a third party.
